FAQ

Straight answers.

Common questions about booking, walk-ins, piercings, and visiting the Fort Washington studio.

Do you accept walk-ins?+

Yes — walk-ins are welcome when artist availability allows. Call ahead or stop by the studio at 601 Cady Dr to check who is free and what can be done same-day.

How do I book?+

Browse our artists, pick the portfolio that fits your idea, then book through that artist’s link or contact the studio. Include your concept, placement, approximate size, and any reference images.

How much will my tattoo cost?+

Pricing depends on size, detail, placement, and the artist. Share your idea during consultation and your artist can give you a clearer estimate before you book.

Do you require deposits?+

Many custom appointments require a deposit to hold your time — your artist will confirm the details when you book. Policies can vary by artist and project.

Can I bring reference images?+

Absolutely. Reference images help your artist understand style, scale, and direction. Bring what you love, plus notes on what you want changed.

How should I prepare for my appointment?+

Get solid rest, eat beforehand, stay hydrated, and wear clothing that makes your placement easy to access. Avoid alcohol before your session. Your artist may share additional prep notes for your specific piece.

Can I bring a guest?+

Ask your artist when you book. Space and session length can affect guest policies, so it’s best to confirm ahead of time.

How old do I need to be?+

You must meet legal age requirements and bring a valid photo ID. Confirm current age and guardian policies with the studio before booking.

How long does healing take?+

Healing timelines vary by placement, size, and how well you follow aftercare. Many tattoos look settled within a few weeks, with fuller healing taking longer. Your artist will walk you through aftercare for your piece.

Do you offer piercings?+

Yes. Professional piercings are available with Piercings by JC (@piercingsbyjc), including ear, cartilage, nose, eyebrow, navel, and curated ear arrangements.

How do I choose an artist?+

Look through each portfolio and choose the artist whose existing work already matches the style you want. If you’re unsure, use the Help Me Choose form on the contact page and we’ll point you in the right direction.

Where are you located?+

Fort Washington Tattoo Studio is at 601 Cady Dr, Fort Washington, MD 20744 — convenient for National Harbor, Oxon Hill, Clinton, Temple Hills, Alexandria, and the greater DMV.
